Spray & Pests Control
Neem Oil Organic Plant Conditioner and Soil Spray
For a GOOD conditioner for just about all of your gardening problems mix in 32 ounces of water:
(a) 2 teaspoons of Neem oil -
DYNA-GRO - brand
if aphids are a problem then add soap to (a) Neem Oil mixture above
(b) 1/2 teaspoon of Ivory Soap Liquid
if rust is a problem then add Serenade to (a) above & (b) above
(c) 1/2 teaspoon DISEASE CONTROL -
Serenade garden - brand
This above mixture if easy and inexpensive and can be used on a daily basis, (I use about once a week or less). Make sure you spray under your plants also. DO NOT spray during overhead sunny times. Early in the morning or after the sun has lowered in the sky is best. You can burn sun spots on your plants if you spray while the sun is high. This is safe for all living things. This does not kill it just deters.
Slugs
The best and less harmful way I have found to keep slugs away from my food source is crushed sea shells surrounding my garden. You can buy a bag of crushed sea shells at most gardening supply stores. Grab a handful of shells and lay them along the outskirts of your garden. This will greatly keep slugs from sliding over and the few that get in you can just pick them up and toss them away from your food source. The best time to find them in your garden is after hours and early in the morning.
Root Problems
For soggy root problems a light dusting of:
OMRI - ACTINO IRON soil additive for organic gardening
- grab a handful and lightly sprinkle around the base of the plant but never on the roots.
- This is also good additive for tomatoes. I do this about once a month in my garden.
- A bag will last a couple of years (use sparingly). I have 3 gardens I use this on, so alittle goes along way.
- And of course, LET YOUR PLANTS DRAIN AND DRAIN WELL BEFORE YOU PUT MORE WATER IN THE GROUND
Soil Strenght and Immunity
The beauty of Manure is that it keeps the soil in good immunity which keeps disease and root problem limited. Apply A HANDFULL of WELL-ROTTED MANURE around each plant on a monthly basis. This is my preffered remedy for any problem.
